Grandes Cuisines Winner - Terri Ruth Hosken
Terri Ruth Hosken works BEYOND THE BOX - KITCHEN dESIGN dE, Anchorage, AK. The kitchen was designed for restaurant owners, who knows what's working kitchen. However, they wanted not only functionality, but also place of creation and inspiration. The photo is made by Frank Flavin.
The design method focused on a composition which provided the versatility and innovative storage ideas. Successfully integrated behind the quiet facade is a range of components that allows the kitchen layout to be customized to meet all requirements of space. The island plays a key role because it enables the main functions to be combined in a space designed to ensure freedom of movement. A mobile trolley services freely rotates to reveal small appliances under the counter, or it can be removed for use elsewhere, while offering additional space knee counter.
A stainless steel elevator door conceals the microwave next to the steam oven and the drawer below the oven and joining the adjacent coffee system. Unlike the reflective steel block, maple rift clear cut educated eye toward unity. The hidden office interacts with surrounding cabinetry to create compliance without interruption.
Great Kitchen Second place
This kitchen is designed by Peter Vanderhyden working in IMAGES KITCHEN & BATH DESIGN INC, Stoney Creek, ON. It has been redesigned to accommodate large gatherings of people, while allowing a family of four and their pets to enjoy family meals and quick breakfasts. The photo is made by Roy Timm.
A complete gutting of the kitchen, laundry and pantry space was needed, which requires the house to be updated and the space, allowing a continuous flow of interconnecting rooms and an outdoor terrace and actively used the pool, close to the kitchen. Plans and details have been carefully designed. Space to gather around an integrated seat bench overlooking the outdoor patio, stone fireplace and television allows those who sit to interact with the cook. A raised breakfast bar next to the new patio door allows quick morning meal and offers excellent meeting place.
Cooking, cleaning and preparing food on professional devices are aligned in the central core, with easy access to food pantry in the corner. Away from the main cooking area is a coffee and refreshment area, allowing guests and family to communicate, but not interfere with the leader.
Great Kitchen Third place
The kitchen is designed by Anthony Albert Passanante working in SALERNO PETER INC., Wyckoff, NJ. The customer requested a functional kitchen with unique features, including a traditional view of the French countryside. The overall design was inspired by focusing on key features such as the island paneled hood and pass-through, creating a sense of uniformity. Photo by Peter Rymwid.
The most important piece, traditional slope and high paneled hood, kitchen takes this to a new level. This distinct feature, home spice to the bottom at a depth of nine inches, allowing a more practical workspace. To create an interesting texture, a combination of chicken wire and glass was added to the flanking wall cabinets.
The pass-through creates an exceptional view of the large room in the kitchen, highlighting the cherry wood cabinets glass. In addition, the full-size separate thirty six inch refrigerator and freezer to accommodate all the family needs. Bridging these two devices is a graceful arc personalized held by two traditional cantilevers, which are highlighted by two sconces.
Bookshelves were installed on the back wall of the refrigerator, adding a finishing touch to the large adjacent room. These shelves match the theme of the kitchen using the same custom valance cutting.

This kitchen is near the front door, so that the hob was placed on the north wall, where it could be easily visible when approaching of the room. The cooktop with decorative hood in a pale cream with a Vandyke brown glaze, provides a focal point of the kitchen entrance. Since the cabinets do not reach the ceiling, the cover seems more dramatic and remains in equilibrium with the rest of the cabinet.
From the windows occupy much of the wall space, the island in another color perimeter serves in several capacities, including storage, home to the microwave, to a corner and a generous work surface.
beautiful marsh view acts as the main focal point of this kitchen. The warm color palette, balance elevations and efficient use of space gives this kitchen a casual elegance. It is a well-designed space for a family to reconnect and unwind after a long day of work or play.
